We are delighted to announce that the ground-breaking new solar panel subscription company Sunsave has been awarded Flexi-Orb certification.
Flexi-Orb’s UKAS recognised certification covers the installation of solar photovoltaics (PV), and electrical energy storage systems (EESS), and is the first in the UK to offer a certification for the installation of electric vehicle charge points (EV). Sunsave is among one of the first companies to gain Flexi-Orb certification and is the first in the UK to offer this type of solar panel subscription model.
What is Sunsave?
Sunsave was launched by Co-Founders Alick Dru and Ben Graves, with a mission to make the power of solar accessible to all UK households. Sunsave offers a unique alternative to customers – a long-term solar subscription with no upfront costs and ongoing monitoring and maintenance, provided through a 20-year guarantee to ensure the system’s performance and longevity to give customers peace of mind.
The start-up has already been awarded almost £2 million from the UK Government’s Green Home Finance Accelerator (GHFA), part of the Net Zero Innovation Portfolio and has significant backing from leading investors.
How does it work?
Rather than partnering with a bank, Sunsave provides the financing, so that customers deal with one company for the installation, financing and ongoing maintenance of their solar system.
The business was founded in 2022 and its subscription model, Sunsave Plus was launched at the beginning of 2024.
Ben Graves, Co-Founder at Sunsave, says:
We have grown incredibly fast, more than doubling volume every month. Given the recent government announcement we expect this phenomenal growth to continue, and having the highest quality installations is absolutely essential to our success.
Why did Sunsave choose Flexi-Orb certification?
Ben continues:
We see the industry moving quickly over the next few years and market dynamics are likely to evolve. It’s important for us to work with a regulatory body that can adapt quickly and move with the times.
How Flexi-Orb is driving up standards
Flexi-Orb was established three years ago in a bid to drive up installation standards for the benefit of domestic consumers and to increase the number of certified installers in the domestic renewable installations market. This scheme was introduced to increase confidence in the whole of the low carbon market and mitigate the risk of any repeat mis-selling scandals in the UK.
The last three years have been spent developing and beta testing the proposition to ensure that we developed a robust and quality scheme that would attract high quality installation companies. The scheme officially launched in June with two certification bodies and we are delighted to welcome Sunsave to our list of certified installer companies.
Peace of mind with Flexi-Orb
Flexi-Orb certification is currently available through Simply Certification and Blue Flame Certification, with more certification bodies working on applications to also offer the Scheme.
