Installation Checklists
Choosing to invest in a renewable energy installation is a huge financial commitment, so you need to be certain that not only have you chosen the right installer, but that the system you are investing in is right for you. Then, once you’ve chosen an installer and your installation has been completed, you must ensure you have been provided with all the relevant paperwork.
Our pre-installation and post-installation checklists below should help provide guidance when it comes to ensuring you are protected, but if you have a question that is not answered here or within our consumer FAQs section, please contact our helpdesk where one of our team will be happy to answer any queries or concerns you may have.
Pre-Installation Checklist & Questions
First and foremost you must choose your installer carefully. Always make sure your installer has the required skills and competencies to carry out your desired installation. To help you make an informed decision it is recommended to get quotes from a minimum of 3 installers and ask the questions listed below.
Are you Flexi-Orb Certified?
Ensuring your installer is Flexi-Orb Certified means you can be safe in the knowledge that they have undergone a rigorous initial vetting process, which includes on-site technical assessments and an assessment of their business practices. Plus, all certified installers are subject to up to five further assessments (depending on the size of their business) each year.
How will my system perform?
Every quotation should come with performance estimates and savings illustrations. You should check these thoroughly and ask the installer to explain anything you do not fully understand in detail.
If the installer is an EPVS member, then the paperwork you will have been provided should also have been uploaded to EPVS. As an independent certification scheme, EPVS reviews the paperwork its members provide to their customers to ensure the performance estimates and savings illustrations are accurate and not misleading.
If the installer is Flexi-Orb Certified, but not an EPVS member, and you are concerned that the figures you have been provided with are not correct, you can request a free EPVS validation through us, by emailing info@flexi-orb.com and attaching copies of your quotation and contract.
What guarantees and warranties will I receive?
Deposit Protection: You may be asked to pay a deposit upfront for your installation and if this happens, you must make sure you do not pay more than 25% of the contract value.
Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG): Every installation carried out by a Flexi-Orb Certified installer will, where applicable, come with an Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) that provides you with protection should the installer cease to trade.
Product Warranties: All products should come with a standard manufacturer’s warranty. You must check the warranty periods for each of the products you have been quoted and remember to factor in any replacement costs that may apply when considering the overall cost of the system.
Post-Installation Checklist
Following the completion of your installation, your installer should provide you with a Handover Pack that includes the following documentation:
- Building Regulations Compliance Certificate
- Insurance Backed Guarantee (IBG) details
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) details
- Flexi-Orb certificate
- DNO notification/application form and commissioning approval
- Wiring schematic (line diagram)
- Test results of electrical connections
- Operation and maintenance instructions
- Emergency shutdown procedure
- Product warranties
- Product datasheets
- Installer full contact details
- Final copy of the invoice marked 'Paid in Full'
