Flexi-Orb owns, maintains and develops the INS-001 Installation Scheme. The Scheme, which covers the installation of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) up to 50kW, Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) up to 50kWh, and Electric Vehicle Charge Points (EVCP) up to 22kW has a set of requirements and standards that an installer of renewable energy products must meet if they are to become certified to the Scheme, and therefore able to demonstrate to its customers, and to other stakeholders – such as government or energy companies – that it has the skills, experience and competency to meet these requirements.

In addition to our Heat Pump Scheme, which has been formally recognised by UKAS and is currently being accredited via our Certification Bodies, we have in development a Scheme to cover the installation of larger-scale commercial Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installations over 50kW.

The Installer must be able to demonstrate not just a high proficiency of installation, but also that it has the office infrastructure capability to provide consumers with a clear, educated and supported sale, design, and installation of their chosen renewable technology. The Installer evidences this by undertaking a detailed and challenging assessment of its management system. It must also be a member of, and comply with, one of the industry Certified Trading Standards Institute approved Consumer Codes (which gives the consumer free access to complaints mediation, Ombudsman Service and an Insurance Backed Guarantee).

To become certified, the Installer must apply and be assessed by one of the Certification Bodies that operate the Flexi-Orb Scheme. Assessments are undertaken at all offices that are relevant to the Installer’s operations, and technical assessments can include, depending on the size of the installer, up to five site visits per year. Once successfully certified, annual surveillance is also undertaken by the relevant Certification Body to ensure that the Certified Installer consistently meets the requirements of the Flexi-Orb Scheme.

Whilst serving a broad range of clients and other stakeholders, Flexi-Orb puts the consumer at the heart of its operation, investing in resource and infrastructure to ensure that where there is an issue following a contract with a Flexi-Orb Certified Installer, a reasonable resolution is achieved and a consumer is never left disadvantaged.
